Is this some kind of Amphilophus?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would have said A. Nourissati based on the first pic, not to derail, but, here is a shot of one of mine . . .

This fish looks like synspilum:

This picture has an exaggerated head shot because "Keystoning" due to a wide angle distortion.

This fish has nothing to do with Synspilus:

Definitely not a synspilum. Maybe Fenestratum or some cross. Mo I did not think the black blotches traveled that far up the body.

Here's Synspilus at about the same size (I think) as the fish in the first picture above.

For me, the horizontal lateral dark spots are too "midline" for synspillum. Syns always seem to have their spots below the midline.
The fish we're looking at has it's spots bang on the fish's "equator", whicg says much more the trimac/flowerhorn distribution to me.
My moneys still on a hybrid of some sort.

However, I could be wrong, and often am !!

i wouldnt doubt it that possibly a hybrid. Since we havent agreed on a determined species im excited to see what it will look like down the road. Hes just a mutt. but a pretty one haha.
