Is this stand good enough??(pics)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if you had used 2x2s at least in the corners, you would be safe but 2x4s arent strong enough. i just like to be extra safe. 135g is a lot to have to mop up. this is all just my oppinion.

oh, i see. that is a good idea. should i put them in the front, middle or back?? do you think it would tip foward also?(away from the wall)

put them in the back and maybe in the front on the left and right so not to get in your way if you need to put something under the tank. probably not going to fall foward but it wouldnt hurt to add support on the sides just in case.

in stead of the way you showed me, could i do it this way?(bottom pic) in the front and back? would it do the same thing??

ya that will do the same thing...

ps. nice tank and stand, where is your filter... :D

the diagonals would work much better for that imo. if you are going to be covering it then why not go diagonals in the back and straight ones in the front, that way you can still have doors on the front, and support on both sides.

the filter and heater is to the far left, cant see them in the pic....but its there. i ordered another filter and heater for the far right side. was suppose to be here yesterday:irked: ... i just went out and got a piece of styrofoam(celfort) for the bottom of the tank(1" thick) that should be fun getting it under there by myself!!! i got it just for extra reassurance that there is no stress points.... i will add the reinforcements today and the styrofoam then post pics....only have a cell cam as it takes better pics than my digital cam:screwy: ...

The horizontal support will do nothing. it will still fall the same. diagonals are the way to go. if you plan to enclose the stand to make it look solid, use thick boards like 3/4" thick and nail them to your exhisting support and it will strengthen it so that you wont need diagonals.
