I am setting up my new 125 and noticed that it may not quite be leveled perfectly. It looks like the rear of the tank is a bit lower than the front, but just barely. Is this okay? Perhaps when I fill the tank it will level itself out? It is on carpet, cement slap is underneath the carpet and I really don't want to bother with trying to level it since I am not very handy.

To add to my frustrations, I discovered that my FX5 canister is barely too large to pull out the front of my stand, so I'm not able to put the tank as close to the wall as I hoped. :(

There is no problem there if the tank stays that way as you fill it. The only problem would be if it starts lean anymore one way or another. My guess though is that as you fill it the carpet will be compressed and the tank will level out even more as the concrete slab underneath takes more effect. My 125gallon was more off than that before I filled it so I just paid attention as I filled it. Now, after filling it and running for over 5 months, it is almost perfectly level. I checked it almost every week for the first month but nothing changed. Hadn't checked it in a while but thought I might as well since seeing this. Again, nothing has changed. So just pay attention to the level as you fill it and you should be fine.

Hello; The longer the level the better. If you have access to a four foot level, a two foot level or the longest you can find the measure will be more accurate.
I would also strongly suggest removing the carpet where the tank sits. There have been a few posts about leaks and spillage ruining carpet and floors of late. You will not ruin cement, but will likely have unhealthy and smelly mold. I have also had damage from tanks and carpet myself. I removed the carpet from the tank area in my current home and put down vinyl tiles with a plastic quarter round siliconed along the remaining carpet edge as a barrier. Water eventually will spill, leak or in some way find it's way onto the floor then you will have to take down the tank to get the ruined carpet out and not only just the section around the tank. Then you can level the stand directly onto the solid floor.

Thanks guys. I actually ended up placing two rubber wedges underneath the back corners and it did the trick. Tank is filled now and almost perfectly level. I'll keep an eye on it though. I guess I am overly paranoid about it because I had a 120G (used off craigslist) burst at the bottom seems and flood my room. So this time around I bought the tank brand spankin' new to ensure that does not happen again.

As far as removing the carpet where the tank is, I'm sure I will do that someday down the road when we decide to replace it with tile or hardwoods.

Tank doesnt need to be level . it needs to be sitting FLAT on the stand , you will be OK
