One downside of electric cars is the impact on the blind. Literally.........:D
They run completely silent. Think about it.

hmm... ozone or a couple of blind people?........ tough choice

really, thats awesome! what kind of cars are they and what are the prices? im really set on getting an electric car. forgot all this hyrbid ethanol hype

I think they're called "Zap" cars, but that just be the name of the dealership. They have a couple different passenger cars, a little delivery truck, and scooters. They run from about $10,000-$14,000. I can't remember the exact range, but it wasn't quite enough (lead/acid batteries). I live in the hills, so I need at least 150 mile range to be at all useful.

You're right about hybrids being not worthwhile, they're just ultra-complicated cars that get all their power from an internal combustion engine. Electric motor have a few moving parts, an I.C. motor has hundreds. In Oregon we get most of our electricity from hydroelectric plants (we also sell a lot to CA) so a plug in car hardly pollutes at all :)

This is great if we get a lot more nuclear power plants. I think it's funny that they claim 0 emissions too. That electricity has to come from somewhere!

I've thought of that too. The Tesla Roadster is pretty awesome though!!!!! 0-60 in 4 seconds and just as fast in reverse!!!!!! I think hydrogen is the way to go, burns cleaner. Plus, Mazda has developed a ROTARY HYBRID ENGINE that is going to be an absolute moster!!!!!!!

The Chevy Volt is pretty ugly too. If manufacturers want to sell cars that run on alternate energy they have to make them attractive. Case in point;

what about cars powered by nuclear generators?
