Nitrites in the system mean your bio can't handle the fish. This is the cause of your fin issue. Upgrade something like tank and then add more filtration. Cheap way is sponge filters. Then watch your aros magically heal up. If it has been in the 55 for more then 3 months it should be to big for it.
