I usually only use the sunlight from my window for my p's, lately ive been debating whether the light is to much for them, seems like they are always shy and never active until I feed them...

this is how it looks like during the day for me, attachment below

And also has anyone ever used these lights with their p's?

do they show any difference in behavior when you have the drapes closed? if not then I don't think it's the sunlight. how long have you had them? overtime they will get use to the light but I would more worry about algae issue if you have sunlight on the tank for long period of time.
no experience on that bulb but looks like a regular bulb with blue glass cover, maybe trying to mimic moon light??

I have recieved my baby reds on the 7th of april, even when I cover the light, they seem to hide at the bottom of the tank, they have gotten way bigger since I had them, and they all eat, so health shouldnt be an issue...

Yea i understand sunlight causes algae blooms, I have alot of lucky bamboo, and golden pothos in my sump, hopefully this can keep some of the algae away.

they r always skittish and hiding only time ive had a prob with sunlight is if the algea takes over

so the sunlight from my window should be ok? I dont want my p's going blind..

They won't go blind. As far as being skittish goes give it a little time and they may become less so.

red belly piranha will usually be skittish throughout their entire lives. I've had mine about 7 months now, lots of interaction and they are still skittish. Its just how most of them are.

Its not too much sunlight. They're skittish because you allow them to be that way. Make them rise to top to eat from your hand. If you do this now, you'll have much calmer fish later. If they don't rise to eat, don't feed em.

do you mean like putting my hand in the water and feed them? I still hand feed frozen bloodworms to them, they stay close to my hand waiting for loose bloodworms to float by them to eat, but never ever get close enough to touch my hand
