Well...in that case, 2 filters in a grow out for those guys would be a good idea

I agree an oscar and a dempsey in a 29 gallon should have two filters or at least one oversized filter . it will help you in the long term with maintenance, trust me, and for 25 dollars or so you can get an undergravel filter for a twenty gallon long that should fit perfectly in the bottom of the twenty nine galloni recommend one of those too because oscars and dempseys can both be messy eaters and the undergravel filter will help with the messes they make.

im using sand so will i even be able to use a bottom filter?
