is this true about peacock bass?

I've never heard that before but some species have red eyes and some don't...Did you hear/read this somewhere?

dont think there's much truth to that. red eye coloration is usually species-specific, like orinos and ocellaris.
 
Thats not true. Like J said red eyes are more commonly seen in the ocellaris and orinocensis, however they could be a genetic trait. <- just my hunch.
 
Red eyes can also come from when the fish are stressed or agitated. I have seen this in large monos.
 
Genetics determine eye color. Different strains of fish in the same species (in this case, pbass) have different traits because of genetic differences. It's the same reason they are different races of people. All people are the same species, just different genetic makeups give them different traits.
