I would say some do and some don't.. What works for others may not work for you and fish.

Ime, I have used blue and black backgrounds, no backgrounds... light and dark substrtes... For various perids of time from 6 months to 13 months plus.... Over the last 5 years. The tigers are just as stable what ever the tank set up. And each set up was left for several months to give the tigers a chance to get used to the new environment.

But I do find if put alot of big driftwood, the tigers do at times go brown to blend in.

feed him live fish, make cool getaway decorations with plants & driftwood, buy a timer to control illumination (never too bright), add salt every now & then, keep it clean & buy him a buddy!

thanks he is in with driftwood and other plants as you see in the pics. so i was mainly just wondering if it is bad or it is just natural

perhaps he is stressed. get him two more and try to keep him off live. mine took shrimp the first night i brought him home. mine isn't 100% stable, but pretty close.

then again mines an AT, yours is an IT if im correct?

IMHO it's natural. In the morning when i swtch my tank lights on my NTTs are almost black. After about 10 min they lighten up. Aslo depending where they are in the tank chaanges thier colour. when they hide near the Black background it makes the darker out in the open they're lighter.

naaaa i think it is just camouflage because i put him in the big tank with lighter substrate and he lightn up so i just think he is camouflaged!

nope

dark = stressed

notice how when you feed it he brightens up? thats cus hes not stressed when hes pigging out on food:grinno:..... therefore proving dark=stressed
