Although I prefer CB as they are generally least aggressive, don't grow as large as WC (Hence the need for a bigger tank is not required), plus IMO, they show much more personally than WC and are mostly trained by the LFS to eat pellets already (You don't have to get them feeders). Its also nice to know that you ain't affecting the nature ecosystem of wherever that bichir is from.
As for colours, I managed to get my CB delhezi to display colours similar to yours using a natural coloured gravel.
