synspilus.

Its eye is too big cos its been starved and stunted in a bowl. Eyes grow at pretty much a constant rate, so if you starve a fish you'll end up with a fish with big eyes.

That also explains the strange shape to the head - I think.

Its a mutt. Grow it out....it will probably be a cool looking fish.

yeah i mean its either a mutt or slightly deformed from being kept in bad conditions, either way it would be interesting to see what it looks like as it grows

How long was it abused? It might recover and live a good long time for you! But don't give up at six inches and assume it's just stuck at that color. Many cichlids wait until they hit maturity to pop their colors. Keep 'er a year and see what you get!

Thanks guys I am leaning synspilus now after looking at some other pics of this line. Not sure how long he was keep confined I just know the boy had him in the bowl for about 3 weeks and the fish is only around 1 1/2 in maybe 2 so its not that old. I dont know much about the synspilus so whats the temperment ? size? its not normaly the kind of fish i keep but if you guys think it will be colorfull i can grow it out but the lest aggressive tank i have is my 90g with a small JD and small oscar in it.
