Hey guys!
today at the LFS i saw a man walking in and he stopped at the arowana section.he stared at some RTG arowanas and then he asked a worker what the name of the fish was(RTG arowana). Then she told him what it was.then he asked her what it eats, and how much it cost($248)then the worker walked away.he then starred at it for abt 3 more mins, then he BOUGHT IT!!!!
is this right?i think it is not as he should have researched on it first b4 he bought it.reply if u think if its right!
Thank You!

He'll be back when his six foot fish outgrows his 10 gallon tank. I saw at a local "Big Als" store someone buy a $950 Flowerhorn. The employee said that it would be good with his two oscars already in a 55 gallon tank.

Maybe he's got a huge tank and some money to spend to fill it. My neighbor just bought a 500gal custom tank and I'm so jealous. Her family has never even kept fish other than a 10gal goldfish tank. but yeah I'm sure they will be doing the same thing at my lfs real soon

I do that all the time in most of my lfs to "fish" for what they know. And because most of the time no one posts their prices so I stay calm so they dont bump prices because I like it (dont really know so it's just a peace of mind) also just to see what they eat. And only $250 for an rtg thats sweet !!

But he didn't even know it could eat pellets(could not help eavesdrop)...but maybe u guys are right!

Maybe testing the worker and/or wanting to know if its pellet trained. To fork over $248, I'm guessing he knows exactly what he's buying.......but who knows.

If you are willig to spend that much, you either know what it is or no amount of research is going to change your mind lol.

Keep in mind that while many at the lfs have no idea, there are plenty of us that play dumb with the workers. I have gotten many expensive fish cheaply when the workers took a guess at what the fish was, and I wasnt going to correct them. Train your employees or lose money
