Is to much media bad ?

Looks like you have a decent amount of bio media. If I were you I would put some water polishers like felt in the first section to help get crystal clear water

I always try to have more bio-media than I need, that way I can remove some for cleaning and know that I still have more than enough. It also comes in handy when trying to jumpstart a new tank or filter.

If one wants to err, it's on the side of too much, not too little media, especially as media typically plays a major role in collecting and removing toxic nitrogen.

Have more and be pleased that you have drastically diminished a potential hazard to the heath of your pets. Pets are expensive and personal while media is neither.

Well your filters get to a point when you can have too much bio media, If theres not enough fish excreting vs vol/sa of your bio media it all wont get used up there just wont be enough food for the bacteria to survive. Theres hardly anyway for a hobbyist to know how much media is being used and how much is not though so having extra never hurts as we can only estimate whats going on.

I personally aim for 20L of matrix in each sump and the rest I jam full of mech right up to the pump intake.
