Here's something new for all of you 
All of these pictures were taken in Turkey, it has the most wonderful examples of Islamic art still standing today.
Note: Arabic and Islamic art are two different things, but share a few areas like Arabic calligraphy.
Aya Sofya, Istanbul:
This place was a favorite, it was a church before it was turned into a mosque by the Ottomans, one of the few places where you'll find mosaics of the Virgin Mother, Jesus and Saints along with verses of the Quran beautifully written along side of them.
Sultan Ahmed Mosque (The Blue Mosque), Istanbul:
Another beautiful mosque but not as interesting as Aya Sofya... until you look up!
It's got a majestic ceiling with many many domes, after about 10 minutes of serious neck pain I figured out that there was a pattern to how the domes were made and painted.
