Hey folks,

just a few minutes ago, I noticed an issue with the stand for my 125 g aquarium. I noticed I have some expanding occurring in the particle board:

I’m wondering what I should do here. Should I try and reenforce that area with a 2x4? Scrap the whole stand and build a new one? Or is this just a minor issue?

I'd say that is from water damages over the years and causing the particle board to swell up and the thin laminate coating to come apart.

If that was my stand, I would build a new stand or buy a new one not made with particle board.

I would be swapping stands post haste.

Thanks guys, I figured its some water damage (I guess from when a few drops of water come out of the filter after a water change).

The stand was what came with the tank and I've known its going to need to be replaced in the future since its pretty cheaply made. Guess the future is now this weekend, I'll spend Friday, Saturday and Sunday building the new stand ?

I built my own stand and I love it. Actually I over built it, it's so darn heavy. I used a lot of 2x6 lumber (should've used 2x4). I can barely move it. You could park a truck on it. Lol
