I appreciate your perspective. And everyone else's too.
It's just that I don't feel a newbie should be alienated when he asks a question - as another member said, we all asked stupid questions before.
How would WE feel if we got the same response for asking something?
Keep in mind, also, that NONE of us are truly "Pro's" - All of us are newbies in some sense. Example: I don't know much at all about certain areas of MFK keeping, and I'm bound to ask some questions that may seem stupid to you, too.

Wait did you post that question? (I meant this honestly because you're so offended by the posts)

I agree and I looked at thread. There was no bashing really. Just realistic short responses. No need to re-write the alphabet for such a question. No one insulted anyone, there's only 7 posts in it, 1 post was from a mod and it's not closed.

Not as bad as I thought. All were honest to the point responses.

True not everyone's a pro. But research/common sense helps keeps the noob questions to a minimum.

You have a good point, and I didn't even notice how many posts the newbie had, 21... until I double-checked - but then again, a newbie (or not) should at least get the benefit of the doubt. If THAT PERSON (NOT US) proves to be a troller, so be it, but after the original question, there are 10 or 15 of these negative posts that aren't needed.
If he was trolling, he didn't even get a chance to! lol

I'm not pointing fingers at any thread, I'm speaking generally.

I, too, am speaking generally, and using that thread as an example, so all of MFK can see what I feel to be unhelpful posts.
I feel that a newbie should be able to ask... well... newbie questions, and get appropriate answers, not get laughed at, or bashed, or both, as originally stated earlier.
I'm just repeating myself here, though.

Well if that's the way you feel, then post a response along those lines. Don't apologize for other's not agreeing with you, or answering a question the way you feel it should be answered.

In fact, if I asked a question about compatibility and got a similar response, I wouldn't be bothered by it at all. The responses were not bad, and the noob wasn't insulted.

I would have an "ah, I see" attitude.

Laughing about the absurdity of a combination doesn't imply that I feel I'm a pro and above that question, it only says that I think the question is funny.

Your intentions are good, but you're making an issue of a non issue.

Cohazard, an issue YOU feel is a non-issue.

And please note, I did in fact post a response on his thread answering his question. And, please note, that we all agree - I'm not saying that you guys don't agree with me. We all agree that a cory cat is a bad tankmate for a TSN. I was simply the only person who explained why. That's all.
I'm bringing this up because I feel that unnecessary, unhelpful posts are uncalled for. In my opinion, we should be helping newbies out, not ... NOT helping them.

I do agree with cohazard nothing bad was said it wasnt putting anyone down, at first a couple people (me as one of them) thought it was a joke and for all we know it was.

Crazy, as I said, nobody's pointing fingers - just trying to bring up the issue of ALL of us being more helpful to newbies, is all.

x2 I feel you could have picked a thread to make a better issue out of. :)

You have good intentions I think but if this place turns into AC I'm going home...

I agree. I honestly didn't see anything in that thread that was so bad. I was expecting people straight out calling him an idiot or telling him to leave the site. I would not have replied in the way most did nor would I have answered like you. I simply would have answered his question and moved on. I am normally pretty laid back though. I definitely wouldn't apologize for other people who I am guessing feel as though they did nothing wrong in their replies. It's up to them if they read it back and feel they were rude, then they should apologize. I think the only person who could (not would) would be Neo.
