With regular water changes and a lot of vegetable matter in their diet I would say about an inch every three months or so. I had a 12 inch male in a 50 with a large watermelon pleco for a few years. He had the personality of an oscar and was mean as hell. Oddly never bother the watermelon pleco though. Great cichlid and rare as an adult. Wish I still had mine.

i was planing on putting mine which are about an inch each in to a 40 gal better so start off with and are the prone to bloat?

I wouldnt put all six in a 40gal breeder. I have two, a 1' and the other is a bit smaller and two cubans around the same size and the bigger istlanum chases the others. No damage, but if your going to have six in there, then they might start to cause damage to each other.

yeah i was thinking if they so aggressive that they are going to kill each other i was going to but a couple in my 55, some in 40 and some in my other 40

i got three of them. one has doubled in size in the 3 weeks i got them.
i keep him separated as he outgrew the others and is very aggressive.
the other two are in a 40 with plants and driftwood and what not. i feed them things such as spirulina brine shrimp, ocean nutrition one and two.

the big one is very aggressive and is constantly flaring at the two beani that live in the same tank (all separated mind you).

time to get a bigger tank cody?
you gonna stop by and check out those ponds and stock tanks??
