Dang! That male was a brute! Beautiful pair. My wife sees fish tail slapping and jetting across the tank and she hates it. She thinks trouble will soon follow. Many times she has been correct. Does your friend still have the male?

That's right I remember seeing them now that video is what sold me on them, lol! Mine are drab little grey things right now I tried taking pics but their so fast and small there isn't much to see I don't have a good camera. LOVE that pair tho!

Yea man, he really was. He did that often and tried to get pushy but they had a lot of room in that tank so it never got bad.

And no...my friend took the male to his LFS for credit right after it killed the female. He said he was so angry he just grabbed him and took him straight up there when he saw what happened.

all in about...18 months or so.

Good Luck with yours!

Wow that's an amazing transformation thank you for sharing. Mine are supposed to be F2 so hopefully they will be a stunning set of fish! Anything special you did to grow them that fast?

Thanks and no problem.

Im sure yours will be beautiful as well.

I do 50% water changes weekly, fed something different everyday (krill, pellets, flakes, fresh shrimp, algae wafers, earthworms) dont overstock and had tons of hiding places for them growing up. Like I posted prior, mine from rapps were all killed by a dominant female and this pair killed over 30 of their siblings that were in the same tank.

If it were me, and I wanted to have more than 1, id keep them separated from each other until they were about 2-3" then try and pair them up, if thats your goal. My fear would be at their current size that the dominant one would do what mine did with ease because of the bloat issue Jason mentioned.

I never experienced the aggression with fry to 1/2 an inch that I did on the 1-3"ers...and the 1/2"ers were in the 265g, 1-3"ers in a 75g...so maybe tank space played a part.
