Drive should definitely not be squeaking/squealing or whatever... maybe your UPS/Fedex guy kicked it from the truck to your doorstep (i've seen it happen):thumbsdow . Aside from that, when you say your bios doesn't always recognize the drive, are you getting a hard drive not found message or something like that at startup? If so, you might wanna check you jumper settings.

I exchanged it for new drive. This one is almost perfectly quiet and no complaint here. The jumper setting was set correct on primary master with slave. I think it's a settings in Windows or outdated BIOS.:irked::nilly:
