As everyone knows, LFS can always miss label a fish very easily and I was just wondering if this was a regular texas cichlid or if it is a blue texas cichlid.

Anyways he was $6 bucks and he was the only texas in the store :-)

Also, male or female?

The spangling on face reminds me of Jack Dempsey (so does the black body mark), so Jack/Texas MIX

looks like a jack and a texas mix but i can also see some blue acarain it too so it is def. not a true texas

Hmm, well good to know. I'll try and get ahold of a better camera my friend has and get better shots.

Thanks for the input guys. As I'm looking at him I do really see the Jack x Texas in him.. I guess only time will tell.

I have gotten some updated pics of my texas cichlid in my 55g. He's starting to stand up for his own, and be more "noticed". He's really great to watch and already has a heck of a personality.

- Im leaning more towards a male than a female..(?)
