If I don't see any spots in 10 days I think I'll return to normal.

Quick question though, can I turn up the heat but not use any salt until I see the white spots?

can do... as your taking a preventative messure it's up to you what you want to do... the Higher heat makes the life cycle of ich much shorter

Lots of water changes is also recommended
