I came home from visiting family today only to find the male Friedrichsthalii and female Loiselli have laid eggs.
They are in a 190 with a bunch of other stone cold killer CA/SA's. So far, so good, no aggression problems between the parents or towards others for egg protection. Both parents are stunning, these are going to be beautiful babies.
All this happened during treatment for an ich outbreak. The temp has been at 88 degrees for the last week and there's lots of salt in there as well. Although these two particular fishes had no visible signs of the ich, I had no idea they would breed under such conditions. They have been pretty much paired up since the big male's introduction about 3 weeks ago. I assume the Loiselli chose the Freddy over the other Parahcromises in the tank because they look the most alike.
Keep your fingers crossed for me. I hope to have a bunch of beautiful babies and no murders.
