lil Update -

Eggs defiantly look fertilized, but yesterday when I got home it appeared because of the small rock they chose and it's placement they have rub off some of the eggs trying to get in and out of this spot and over top of it. Kinda pisses me off a bit too becuase there is a lot of eggs rubbed off the rock now just drifting around the bottom of the tank, they look healthy, yellow in color and fertilized though... I'm unsure if these will hatch now or not, only thing I have going for me, is the tank has a nice easy flow throughout, so it's like the parents fanning them with their fins.. If these drifters don't hatch I'm down to about half left already on the rock.. It was a pretty weak spawn too, because she really only laid about (my best guess) 800 eggs... Maybe...

Well, guess we'll see whats up tomorrow night huh, should see wigglers by Friday night / Saturday I'm thinking if it's going to happen..

I also have another 16" Green PU female that's currently in another tank awaiting her turn with the male. She is considerably bigger then this one, plus she looks like she's just loaded with eggs. So it's important I move this first spawn along and move into the next which I'm hoping proves more successful as far as sheer numbers goes.. Plus I'll jocky the rocks around a bit to avoid eggs being laid on the smallest rock in the worse corner of the tank like these two did.. Lessons learned I guess, but I hoping and thinking I may get a few hundred out of this batch.

congrats. best of luck getting some grow-outs

at the second day, eggs should turn brown with a dark spot, at this point any remaining eggs that are still bright yellow to white are infertile.

at the 3rd day you should have wrigglers, i usually get around 1500 - 3000 eggs around 400 will hatch. out of 400 i get 150-250 of live 1 - 1.5" fry's ready to be sold.

my water temp is 28c - 30c if your water is colder it would take a bit longer.

Hahaha your like a little kid on the first day of school. Im glad they did there thing for you now the rest is all on you. Get used to it they breed for me every two weeks year round. SO you will get plenty of practice. If I were you I would leave the other female out of it since she's not true purivian. Annyway good to see your happy with them. LOL

Well, got like 20 wigglers out of that weak spawn...and out of those I'll be lucky to get half to that 1.5" mark...The numbers were just too low from the word go on this one. I'm hoping for a much bigger spawn here in the next two weeks and have all my females on my POWER FEED program Packed with protein... Not really worth all my efforts if the numbers are as low as this first spawn... A good spawn should produce 3000 to 5000 eggs resulting in a few hundred making it to that 1.5" mark... This first spawn was only like 500 eggs and I only ended up with 20 wigglers.. I have a few ideas moving forward though to try and maximize the success rate but no matter have no say to how many eggs they lay... All ya can really do is provide ideal water conditions (I do daily water changes 25% to 50%) and power feed them a protein packed diet.

20 is better then 0..try crushing massivore pellets into powder and feed.that to the fry..breeding is always trial and error..good luck bro..
