My growouts are outgrowing their "growout" status. :D

The tank footprints:
-72x18"
-60x18"
-48x18"

The stock:

-Pair of Vieja maculicauda, don't get along too well so likely need a new female, but very nice show worthy male. Also considering selling them.

-Breeding pair of Nandopsis tetracanthus, adult size and spawn regularly. I would like to keep these alone. Favorite fish in the house, never getting rid of them.

-Breeding pair of Cryptoheros cutteri "Rio Mongo". These two spawn all the time and are really aggressive when they do. Thinking I might have to give them to someone who can devote a tank to them as I don't want to devote a whole tank to them. Might be possible to keep them with a big pair.

-2 Vieja argentea, I'm 98% sure they are male and female but aren't paired yet. I had six and the dominate male killed all the others. The male is 6" TL and the "female" (just guessing based on growth rate and slightly different appearance) is 4".

-5 Parachromis friedrichstali "La Ceiba." Two males, three females. I'm confident I will get a nice pair out of this group, and then I will sell the rest.

So what would you guys do? Sometime this year I will be getting a larger tank as well.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'd like to move the cubans into a bit larger tank just for more swimming room, the male is pretty active and loved the 6 foot tank so I think I will move them into the 5 foot tank. Other than that I think whether or not I keep the black belts is my main deciding factor in what should go where. I know black belts are common but I am a bit attached to the male of the pair. Sorry to be the guy that posts asking for advice and doesn't follow it. :)

Believe me, most of us are used to it by now ;)

Do you think you could put the tetracantus pair and the cutteri pair together in your 6 foot tank with plenty of hiding spaces. This may help assure that your cuban pair bond remains strong and would be interesting to see the two pairs interact together. You are right the the male blackbelt is beautiful and if I were you I would keep him as a wet pet in the 75 gallon. Good luck! Cant wait to see an update.

IMHO the male blackbelt is your best looking fish, despite my overwhelming infatuation with argentea. but if you don't like him he will always be that fish in the "extra" tank that is preventing you from fish that you actually want. he sure is sweet looking

They were actually housed together before. The problem is aggression from the cutteri believe it or not... They don't care how big a fish is, they will take them on and chew up their fins. I also raise the fry of the cubans, and there is no way they would make it a week with those cutteri in the tank. Seriously evil little fish on crack.

He's great, it's his female that's the problem. I just can't justify keeping such a big fish right now if he isn't breeding. I have already inquired with a couple vendors about finding him a big pretty female that is ready to spawn.
Of course the black belt is the best looking out of those pictures. ;) It's a good picture. My male Cuban is a looker, that was an old pic of him but I posted it because it shows the two of them.

The argentea will be a stunner as well, but you gotta realize how small it is compared to that male black belt. Give him two years and he will be show worthy. ;)

Since none of us know your fish the way you do it's tough to make recomindations. I always move things around based on the interaction I get and the personality of the fish. I know you get an idea and sometimes just need to bounce it around a little to see what everybody else thinks and once in a while somebody throughs somthing out you didn't think of. I'd start with the BBs and Argentea in the 72, Cubans in the 60 and the Freddi's in the 48, put the Cutteri in the 72 as a distraction and see how that flys. All the fish are great looking specimans deciding who stays and who goes is never easy. Good luck and keep us posted with your final decision and how it all works out.
