Nice pics!

IMO the first one is definitely a female. The second one is hard to tell - the red lateral lines are getting pretty high, which indicates a male, but at this size there should be more brown dots on the gill plate....well you'll find out in a few months ;)

Would a better pic of the second help?
 
Well this little one doesn't like to have their photo taken!
I had to switch to my point and shoot oddly...anywho this is the best I can do for tonight.

Now it looks like a female too :( Probably a bit too young to tell anyways.

In general males should have more brown dots on the gill plate, and the lateral red lines go above the mid lateral line.
 
So they are young Heros Severus right? They look great.
 
Darn it all...ah well Ill take some more pics in a month and we shall see.
I was guessing by fin shape when I picked them out. :grinno:
