Ivanacara adoketa fun!

Got a good group of adoketa from the Rio Icana a few months ago. Picked the first two that looked to be defending a territory in the big tank, and moved them to a 40 long. Lowered the pH, gave them lots of live food....and nothing. Not even a wiggle. Looked in the big tank a week ago, and low and behold, a female with half a tube down. Plopped her and the closest male in to a 30 long, and proceeded to crash the pH. 10 days later....

Moral of the story, and the most profound breeding advice I've never been given. "The easiest way to breed fish, is to start with horny fish"

Nice! I want to get ahold of some cb adoketa one day. Is it true the wild specimens need high acidity or have you found them relatively hardy?

They need the low pH/conductivity to breed. In my experience, high GH/KH is more of a killer than pH when dealing with blackwater species

Ivanacara adoketa is commonly referred to as the "zebra acara" correct?
