I've always wanted a Cleaner Wrasse.

They are cool little guys!

I will also say that the fish does a phenomonal job clearing parasites. I had a damsel laden with marine ich, and after a couple days the damsel let the wrasse work his magic. He's completely healthy now. I have a cleaner shrimp too, and the damsel wouldn't go near that.

I have one who is happy eating brine shrimp and i have had him for 2 years so im pretty sure hes not slowly wasting away or anything. But ille also admit i unfortunately lost another one awhile before getting that one, im guessing from starvation. It just depends on the individual fish.

I never had luck with them they always die after awhile I have read in many places that once they clean your tank and fish of parasites that they will starve mine would never try anything new only wanted to clean other fish

Mine eats bloodwurms, flakes, just about anything.

I fed my wrasse twice today, with mysis. I just realized he readily accepts them when they are thawed COMPLETELY to room temperature, as i left the shrimp unthawing longer than expected. He usually takes them and spits them out, probably because they are too cold.

More success: I turned off the skimmer and the filter to feed some flakes, usually I leave them on. I wanted the Coral Beauty to get some food before it got taken up by the skimmer, and the wrasse went to town on the flakes, with the still water.

Flakes are ultimately the best food for your fish. They have all the right nutrients and protiens. Try to vary the kinds of flakes you give to him. My 55 is full of sergeant major damsels, a maroon clown, 3 scooter blennies, 1 lawn mower blennie and 2 engineer gobies and I feed them nothing but flakes and they are healthy as can be. Every two days or so I will throw a frozen food in like mysis shrimp or clams. I use the omega flakes.

I have the Omega One and the Ocean Nutrition.
