I think you're right about the whole concept of plant-only filtration. After all, a natural lake or pond is just that. I do think there are dangers when doing it on a small scale but it looks like you've got it under control. I've had planted tanks and I've seen plants generate those little bubbles. I'm just wondering whether some of it, specifically near the algae could be potentially harmgul gasses other than oxygen?

I don't think so. I believe it's all oxigene. But maybe someone could help us on this matter.

I meant harmful gasses. But you're probably right, or you would have had more problems keeping fish in there.

Updating: She's is fine and eating well .

For now: No filtration and no heating . But it will come in winter.

I'll take some picts this weekend. She's fine and doing very well.

I don't say this is the best setup to mantain rays, but i believe is very close to it .

I know that most of you don't believe it's possible, but it is!

I'm thinking now, because eveything is doing well and is Summer here, in moving my big male to this tank/pound. He is about 35/40cm. Do you think he could harm my female?

if England was warm enough id be doing this
if i can think of a way to heat a pond without it costing a fortune i might just give it a try
