I know this may seem like no big deal to some of you guys, but this is mu first time to have fry and I'm completely STOKED!!to the point, my cons made babies (I discovered the fry when I got home from work today).I don't know what to feed them. Please advise.:D

First off, CONGRATS! The first time you successfuly breed fish is the most important! When the fry first hatch, they dont swim, they kind of stick to the bottom and wiggle around. At this point they are still living off off their yolk sac, so you dont need o do anything yet. Once the fry become free swimming, then offer them live or frozen baby brine shrimp or fry food. GOOD LUCK!

I think they can also get food from thier parents skin too.
never heard of that, thats kinda cool though. but you can crush flake food into a fine powder and feed it until you get the baby brine shrimp but i hear the bbs are the best things to feed for the first month of the fry's life.

I appreciate the suggestions. The fry are free swimming now.I didn't know there were eggs because the female con made such a badass dugout in the sand were she was keeping them.Got home this morning and checked on them as usual and I saw what i thought were a bunch of little turds.Turned out it was a bunch of little fishies(also sometime known as turds).I've been home for a bout twelve hours and I still can't quit checking them out.Gonna go to the lfs and see what they got for fry food. Thanks again!!

(first post) First of all congrats! Temperature has alot to do with how quickly your fry become free siming, my fry were not free swiming for almost a week. And as to what fishyz said about the fry feeding of the parents, ive heard of this and watched my fry aprear to be feeding of their mother. Watch out for your female being over agressive towards your male (for some reason my females will beat the males to death if i do not remove them) good luck with your fry!

Cichlid fry?
Nice one, now you're gonna have to become a fishy midwife!

First off, egg hatched fry generally don't eat until their egg sacs have been fully absorbed, then the next best thing to feed them is Baby Brine Shrimp.

Google for Hatching Brine Shrimp - there is loads of info out there.
I've got a batch just hatched for my baby Platys - third batch so far - and they DEVOUR them.
BBS really helps fry growth and they will colour up faster as well. My fry tripled in size very quickly using BBS.

Good Luck!
