I hope they stay small too...

It's like having a dog or a cat and they are so nice when they are small and you want them to stay that way!

So far long term captives (4 years +) are less than 10" If they stay less than 18" I'll be happy, 24" would be a problem....

My paddlefish are still doing well, I finally have the 75 gallon stand built and I will be setting it up in the next couple of days. the fish are doing great and show a wide temperature tolerance. Nostrum damage is still minimal and they are feeding well while staying quite small compared to their hatch mates being raised in ponds.

While almost certainly a "species tank" type fish some tank mates are possible as long as you plan to make sure they do not have to share food or space with the other fishes. I keep mine with bottom type fish and make sure they do not have to compete for food with their tank mates. really great fish so far guys!

I partially set up my 75 gallon aquarium yesterday, I used 40 pounds of black sand, Tahitian Moon Sand, about 1 inch over the bottom of the tank. I filled the tank with well water run through a regular home water softener. The water, as usual had a very strong odor of HS, I added a quart of regular H2O2 and the odor dissipated. i added one cup of marine aquarium salt and 1/2 cup of calcium chloride to compensate for the extreme softness of the water. I am aerating the water for 24 hours before adding filtration or fish. I'll put up a you tube video of the fish in their new home in a few days... I'll add some sacrificial fish for 24 hours before adding the paddlefish.... So far the sacrificial fish, Gambusia, are doing well, in few hours, if they continue to do well I'll ad the other fish and get this tank going!

I finally have the 75 gallon tank set and and operational, I put three of the larger paddlefish in the 75, the three smaller ones are still in the 30 gallon tank. I put a Marineland Emperor 400 on the 75, the paddlefish enjoy the current and are doing quite well, If I can avoid any more equipment failures it looks like these fish are going to do quite well...
