That is sir u can see one of the loaches he shares his tank eith poking his nose out of the top of it. I have only had him 3 days so far he's feeding on sinking hikari pellets and diced up mussel and prawn.

Just some advice I would add some kind of vegetable to his feeding like spirulina or even algae wafers...these guys are hard to keep alive when theyre young due to bloat and other diseases...I think your in the clear once he gets to 4 to 4.5 inchs...I also have a 7" ebjd

Agree with CrazyLegz about the spirulina, while snorkeling with JDs in cenotes in Mexico, I noticed that they constantly graze on algae that is growing everywhere.

Although they try to eat the livebearers that hover above them, they seem to miss at least 9 out of every 10 times, meaning 90% of their diet is algae and whatever lives within it.

Any spirulina based food should work, I use HBH Super Soft Spirulina for all my cichlids, it is not dry, and easily sinks.
