Until i figure out a cause, how much crushed coral should i use to buffer it? Is it possible to use too much crushed coral?
I've recently been having some bad PH crashes... any idea on the cause?

Yes it is, which is why I suggested getting a test kit to measure your hardness (as that is really what you are adjusting with the coral, not the pH), last thing you want is the water going from too soft to too hard...
Are by any chance using prime as a dechlorinator? I love it, but if you over dose it noticeably drops the pH.

gh/kh is the parameter i would be concerned about. Personally i would use coral (not crushed) a lot easier to clean and a lot easier to take out if needed.
It's not supposed to effect ph, at any dose.
