Ivory Snail Egg Care

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Forgot to post what ended up happening to the clutch. decided to leave it alone and let nature take it course. unfortunately i've yet to see a single baby snail yet. i believe all of them were ate by my fish. there was only a small chunk of it left in the bottom of the tank... hopefully here in the near future my snails will produce eggs again and i wil try to raise those!

aww sad well if its the first it will not be the last ^_^ they will lay again..mine had 2-4 clutches out at any one time....and i tried the snail-o stuff and my snails love it!..and my shrimp..and my crays!!

Thanx guys! there will def. be future projects! I also tried the snail-o ;) i changed one of the ingredients. the gelatin was swapped for fruit pectin. It doesnt work so dont try it! Fruit pectin is the additive to make jellies and jams. it will jell up but it will not hold when it hits the water. it disintigrates as soon as it hits the surface. by the time my snails would work their way to the area where the glob would hit; it would completely disappear into the gravel. did see a couple snails try to dig through the gravel at those spots. one of my bichirs actually took a few big mouth-fulls of it too! One of the blues recently passed. his "door" was all sunken in and at a weird angle... couple days later he all that was left was a shell... Still have a bunch of japanese trapdoors left and one blue. i bought the gelatin recently; thinking of remaking the batch tonight hopefully this time it is a sucess.

when i made it i used almost 2 full packets of the gelatin , i also added fresh frozen spinach un salted canned green beans, and frozen strawberries..i let them thaw and mashed them up to a chunky paste..figured the added liquid would need more gelatin..seems to of worked so far ^_^

my snails, crays, shrimp, and plecos all love this stuff! and even some of my other fish take bites of it when i put it in the tanks.
