I just picked up an 8" raphael catfish, and 3, 3" clown loaches:) at my LFS and put them in a tank that only had my 2" JD and a 6" pleco. The jack was always aggressive but once i put the 3 new fish in there hes just been way out of the ordinary, he beats up anything in sight:swear:, is there anything i can do to stop this or make him less hostile? (besides seperating) or do i have no choice:irked:

Whenever I add some new fish into my CA/SA tank, I always change the rocks and plants around. That creates new territories. Therefore, the Jack won't have anything to defend as he's too busying trying to choose a new territory himself. Been doing that with both CA/SA cichlids as well as African cichlids for years and never had a problem. Whenever I didn't do that, I had a sudden aggression problem.

Try changing the decor around. The JD feels that they're invading his territory. If it still presist, remove the JD for a few days and then return him into the tank and see what happens.

thanks everyone:))
