Ok.... I'd like to have two jacks in a 75gal.... whats the best way to do this...? Get several small ones and pawn off the ones that don't mate up? or....... how can i accurately sex a juv?

Yeah, the best method is to get a small group, throw in a few seperate cave structure's with a few silk plant's to break the line of sight and allow them to pair off themselves. Select the dominant pair for yourself, and sell the other's. Some dither fishes would help to keep the territorial dispute's somewhat in check, until the dominant pair stand's out. 4 or 5 Silver dollar's would be a nice choice for Dempsey's.

Be sure to keep us updated, i like the sound's of spawning Dempsey's and Silver dollar's in a 75g.

Juveniles can be sexed with some degree of acuracy, the same way you would sex an adult. The gill plate of a female will show alot more irredesence, she will have a faded dark front section to the dorsal fin and will show very little irredesent spangling above the lateral line and throughout her finnage. A male will have only a handfull of irredesent spot's on his gill plate, he will show more irredesent spangling above the lateral line and through his finnage. Once bagged they become somewhat stressed and this all display's more prominantly.

Sweet.... Well should I let this little bugger grow a little before adding the new ones.... he was the runt of the tank at the LFS but had the best color....or will he be all this is my house...

Not sure how to do this but why not go for e-blue dempseys?

I think you need one e-blue and one normal for breeding.

Might actually be profitable!

it will be best if you bought more of the same size now then later. reason being, is they will get use to each other at a small size then at there bigger stage.

Always better to have the fish grow up together.Starting with a group you would have a better chance of a pair that wont kill each other.

So... How fast can they pair up because they look pretty cozy
