i agree :) lol there a reason why they are named after an agressive boxer!

They are big babies.
Social factors will determine the aggression level of your dempsey. A calm tank, Chances are he wont know what aggression is.

in my 65 my JD (still only 3 or 4 inches) will chase the 2 con's & 2 sen's away from his caves (he claimed both my rock cave and my driftwood cave:irked:) but he doesn't really beat up on anything. Occasionally he'll just creep out and charge one of the con's in the middle of the tank but thats as far as it goes...just charges them once or twice then retreats back to his cave. As if he needs to continually assert his dominance over the tank, but doesn't actually feel the need to hurt anything. And FWIW, he COMPLETELY ignores my tiger barbs no matter where they are (that being said, they don't venture inside his caves, they just sit on top of them or around the permiter)

pretty tough fish normally that i have kept over the years, but i will admit i have lost 3 out of 4 over the the last few weeks. my buttikoferi went charles manson and just started picking off a differet one every other day...

Mine are fairly gentle, but they have their limits. Basically the put up with a lot of crap, but when they are done 'playing' everyone else clears the area. :) The 4" male is definately king of the tank though. He goes where he wants and nobody tells him otherwise.
