Hi,

My male Jack Dempsey suddenly has some weird black growth on his gills (been seeing it for 2 days now). Not sure if he has just bruised himself or if it is something that will have to be treated. The video shows the black growth. Its right under his eye and a little behind the mouth on both of his gills and and little near the anal fin :(. He is eating just fine and behaving just the way he does normally.

Anyone seen this before or know what it is and if it has to be treated - Ammonia burn??

Water parameters are normal and I've had the tank for 6 months now.

The female doesnt have any of it.

They are both about 3 inches long and live in a 75g by themselves.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately its not something I have heard of and the video doesnt come up for me, (old web browser). Can you post your water parameters? I know ammonia poisoning can cause discoloration but I can't speak from experience. Have you started doing water changes?
