The male possibly can pose a threat but can't give a positive yes or no. Believe me the female has given him the warning lol.

so the female jumped and the male quickly took over parenting responsibilitys and the fry are about .5"-1" and my local big als says they will take them that small
at 50 cents each more than I expected

Wow, seems like a pretty reasonable price. Nice that Big Als will take them! At the least, it'll help defray some costs. I just got a shipment from BigAls, glad I used them rather than PetCo. My local PetCos won't take any fish.
