i recently purchased a jack dempsey from a local pet store, it is 5" long. I was wondering if it will eat feeder fish any time soon? At the moment it wants nothing to do with the feeders and sticks to only flakes.

They can eat feeders anytime as long as they are appropriate size. Buy why give it feeders if it can eat other stuff? Its kinda unnnecessary. Try feeding it Pellets, Krill and some frozen foods. Try giving it an earthworm or something. Feeders arent that nutritious and they can carry disease.

but i really enjoy watching feeders die in my tank, hence the two oscars i have in there as well :D and they get plenty of pellets and flakes as well.

make sure you quarantine those feeders or else you will enjoy two oscars dieing in your tank:Pikachu:

why will the oscars die? And how do you quarantine the feeders? THey are kept in a separate tank as of right now.

You don't wan't it to eat flakes you wan't it to eat pelets and flakes and frozen foods feeders carry the risk of parasites
