yep, was no good when i got there he was stuck in a decoration? i asked them to feed him and all they gave him was feeders and he didnt even flinch at them let alone eat them...so it was a no go...i ended up buying another bichir

Haha stuck in decor that seems like a dumb Jack alright, which is normal. And feeders well sometimes they're tentative with that too. For $10 I would've bought him if he looks physically okay. Internally its a crapshoot anyways, but if he got stuck in decor then obviously he's actively doing something. What you don't want is a fish that will sit still in the corner. I got a steal when I bought a pair of Jacks 8" for $15.
i would have bought him. Jacks are one of the most skiddish cichlids you can get. They are afraid of you and dont get used to for a while. Feeders arent a good food to test with. Lots of times fish wont eat in front of people. My cichlids i have now wouldnt eat while i watched and now they are all crazy during feeding time. I would take the bichir back or just go buy the jd too
went back today to go take a look at the JD and he was dead, i talked to the owner and said he found him dead a few hours after i took a look at him, so kinda glad i didn't buy him

Thats actually hilarious...I would question the quality of the LFS too. We have only one independent LFS here and all there fishes are sick and infected. They got a new batch of 2" Pikes a week ago and now they're dead. All theyre trade in sections are infected and sick. Other fishes are mostly okay but some are sick looking too. Hard to imagine considering there are always 3-4 guys working the fish area.
the LFS has always been very reliable, ive boughten plenty of fish there before including most of my feeders, they always get the most exotic fishes in too. Just glad i didn't waste 10$ on that jack
