Jack Dempsey growouts

I thought I would update this thread since the size difference remains. Here are the largest and the middle sized Dempsey. If I were able to capture the smallest, he would be about 3/4 the size of the smaller one in the image here.

I have the same thing going on with my 3 young JDs

Here we are 2 1/2 months later. Here is the largest with the smallest. And just for a comparison that is a swordtail in the foreground. I'd estimate the larger of the two dempseys to be almost 6 inches while the smallest here is about 2.

and here to throw a wrench into the mix. In post #11, If you zoom in on the big one, it looks to be female. It is showing the "blue beard" on the gill plate edge faintly but it's there.

Yeah, I'm having a hard time sexing that one. When younger I thought definitely a male, but now I think I'm starting to see female. I'm sure it will become obvious as he/she continues to grow.
