I have a Female Jack Dempsey living in a 55 gal with a small Black Convict. This morning when I fed my fish I noticed that the JD was not eating. I know it's not being stressed by the convict because the two "paired" up and do not have any aggression towards each other. The tank has been running since sunday. Is this too early to be worried about it? Also before I left it was laying on its side and not moving. Please Help!

There is no aggression towards her at all she just stopped eating. My guesses are either constipation or a parasite? is that possible?

I'm feeding them flakes because the Jack Dempsey refuses to eat pellets. I also try to supplement them with Algae wafers, which they normally eat, but not lately, she also turned very dark and flushed out the blue on her sides. And no it does not look bloated.

How often do you clean the tank?

Bloat could be possible if you overfeed.
Intestine parasites? Do they have clear and stringy poop?

Flakes are not very nutritious. Try starving her until she accepts pellets. Buy NLS or Bio-Gold.'

Constipation is not this serious... If it is, it is from overfeeding or too much protein in their system. Try buying some lettuce, cucumber, peas, and other green vegetables.

Tank is crystal clean as it has only been running for 4 days and I will be doing a W/C on sunday. I'm going to the LFS today, what should i get to help it our when i'm there?

I'm guessing its 0's all the way across the board but I have not tested it yet. It was normal on monday than last night it stopped eating!
