Which one would you pick for a 55g with a con? I have a back up tank that I can set up for the con if things get messy! So from your experience which one would you pick?

I'm leaning towards the jack because I don't want a hybrid fish, which is probably what I'd get from the LFS's near me...

Thanks
Mike

is it carpinte or cygonattus? i would go with texas just because i like them better than jds

both would be fine, i'd pick texas, but both species can get on the larger side for 55's, male jd's and Green texas'- depending on species- can hit 12".

JD's i like, but some texas's are VERY nice. tossup, i voted JD

I would have to say JD. My JD will eat from my hand, has awesome colors, and a nice set of fangs. I have had texas cichlids before, all they were pretty much just mean fish that would kill anything with them.

I think a lot of JD's get ugly in their face/mouth area when they get real big where as Texas look better and better even at max size...especially carpintis.

I like the look of a texas better

I've had both and JD's look way better to me!!!!!!!!!
