As far as beauty and color, JD's are one of the most underrated fish. I think they are taken for granted because they are so common. Spectacular colors if well cared for. I would go JD because they are more hardy, at least in my experience. Here is my 10 inch male.

Nice JD, Twhittle...but I still vote Carpinte.
