yeah i agree with what others have said you look at the gill plate, females have blue all over gill plate while males only have it on upper half. i dont think the body spangling is a 100% way to tell sex because my female JD has the great body coloring like your male does but she has blue all over her gill plate (can't remember if i have vented her or not...)

No the spangling is not a 100% way to determine sex, but I have noticed that all males have it and very few females do.

OMG I know this is old but I hope she didn't mean that her Green Terror is a female Jack Dempsey, this is terrible. The JD is definitely male with no 'beard' gill plate and many spangles
