you forgot some zeros, for a JD I would say 75-100 gallons per fish (when full grown) and you have some Jags. You might as well just ask for plywood and tools for christmas, so you can build them a huge tank.

Ask them to stuff you stocking with pot scrubbies for your sump.

75-100? I'd say in a large tank you could get away with 40gallons PER FISH if you're good with water changes. =)

By the way, i change my water everyday. I dont know why but i love filtering its just fun for me. my friend thought it was a pain in the ass. I gravel filter everyday, about 10-15 percent everyday. I dont have those jags anymore. I returned them for regular jds.
so only about 250 gallons eh? I could probably live with that. thats good to hear

I have one more question. I realized that one of my jds are breathing with their mouth really wide and its something wrong with its lips. Its like..i cant explain it. Its a lil abnormal and it look like white. I read aquarium fish magazine and it said something about cottonmouth disease. can this be it?

a 240 would work.....If you do LARGE daily water changes..... And don't get more fish for it..

Now, where can i get this kind of tank? my lfs around my area dont carry 250 gallons. Ive googled it but its hard to find. in ebay, its like 5 bucks but its all wholesale which means its not worth it - i think. Any websites where i can get them?

craigslist? Try the newspaper. ^^ See if any MFK members in NY have one for sale. =)

just take some of them back, i would say get a bigger tank, wait for them to pair off keep the nicest looking pair and take the rest back.

ok. ill check classifieds. Would they take back fish? i dunno if they would.

Also, can anyone tell me the rate of growth? like how much do they grow every month? thnx

JDs grow slow compared to jags, oscars, and some of the other cichlids. Craiglist.org is like a free classified add in the newspaper.
