jack dempsey tank leak

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would consider some research into ebjd. It seems like you need a quality source or you end up with genetically weak fish that will never see adulthood. This could just be my understanding of it though, I have no personal experience whatsoever.

I don't know how to put video up cos it won't let me upload
but here's my demps
They're alive, the gold jd is appearing stronger but jd is moving but not far off ground
swim bladder right?
Hoping he'll be OK but boyfriend said be realistic, I just keep hoping

Now that we are over the panic of fish health concerns (hopefully) can we get some insight as to how the tank failed? I know you said it was new, and you found a crack on the bottom, but what do you suspect caused the failure?

I am gutted to say I didn't put on a sturdy enough surface
totally unknowingly obviously

They are looking good! As for the mistake on the unsturdy surface, we all make mistakes, some are just more costly than others. Although it can be embarrassing to share details on mistakes like that, they can be useful for others to learn from. I have seen pictures of a few tanks on here that are set up on sketchy bases, and some people just don't believe that it is a risk. Unfortunately, you learned the hard way, but one of the great things about this site is that someone else might think twice about their own setup and avoid the mess!

Glad the fish are looking good.

had a bit of mdf shelf on breeze blocks under it to bring it up to face height for me cos I'm short lol
but yes if it can help others I don't care about being embarrassed lol
