jack dempsey x convict

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i am planning on breeding my female with a male dempsey..... i dont think the fry would be a healthy fish to keep but i also would like to see long term results just dont sell the fry and hand them out to whoever i dont like when hybrids get out all over the place

i want too see if i can get the blue and yellow fins to flow the dempseys fins from the convict... i have a particularly nice conv ict stock...powder ble and lemon yellow flow through the fins and body maintains that nice blue througout almost like a hondurans ... wich brings me too the next question... could a honduran and a dempsey cross imo this would be much more colerful

dang if i had more tank space i would be asking you right now if i could have some fry? but i don't have any tank space left for them...was it hard for the dempsey and con to become a pair?

yeah i could hook u up if u had space...no it wasnt hard at all, they paired up within a week but my cousin might have just been lucky

Have you guys ever seen a electric blue convict? I went to my LFS today during lunch, and he just got them in last night. I am going back after work today to pick 3 of them up. He also had some platinum convicts, that were all white. The owner (azalea aquariums in Richmond) said he had never seen or heard of them in the 30 years he's been doing fishkeeping until his order form came.

I'll put the pics up tonite. They are only about 1.5" right now. This will be interesting...

Sorry...it took me a little longer to get pics, but here they go....My tank is still a tad cloudy from the sand substrate I just put in, and these fish will not stay still...so they are not the best pics.

Like I said, the LFS owner said they were labeled electric blue convicts on his order form, and he assumes it is a EBJD x Con. Right now it looks like a young JD, with con striping, and a bluish tint over it's entire body.

the pics arent that clear but that looks exactly like a honduran red point

Yeah...I thought so also. LFS had some HRP's, and they look a tad different...but they are still juvenile so who knows. The owner of the LFS i got them from is usually pretty good with labeling and overall fish knowledge, but even he was stumped by these. I'll post some pics in the hybrid sections as they grow.
