That is true, however the fish I referred to looked like that on red flint gravel. I fact he looked like that over blue gravel too which is what my friend had him in before he gave it to me.

Over the years I have had a lot of black gravel in an attempt to get my fish to look that awesome. None of them has. I think if fish were collected in the right place that is what they would look like. I just have no idea where that would be.

Yes the breather bags are really only sufficient for young fish that haven't developed spines yet.
I put some 1" Lepidiolamprologus in breather bags few months back, and within a few hours the bags had lost significant amounts of water.
 
Finally after 20+ years of keeping dempseys, and 3 sets of wild ones, i got them (wild Quintana Roo) to spawn I try to get pics soon.....
 
I would like to see pictures of these guys now that it's been a year.
