Oregon, it's part of 'Murica!
Jack Dempseys (Rocio Octofasciata) are a favorite to fish keepers, especially new keepers. But there are also some of us who can't stand them.

This is an open discussion on why you like them, why you don't like them, and everything inbetween.

i love and hate them. i used to breed ebjd and jd for years. but anyways jd are gorgous fish BUT the are some freakn boaring fish. some people say they have great personality but ive never ever seen that over tones of them. soooo i hate to keep thwm but love pictures of them

I think they look like a turd with sequins...

I've never seen one with personality, just takes up tank space in my opinion

Not a big fan of regular JD's but love EBJD's and would breed a female blue gene to one just for EBJD's I love ebjd's cause of their color and personality

They are beautiful but boring. I love their teeth.

+1 I think Jacks are stunning fish especially F1 and wild specimens but they are pretty boring fish. They tend to like to hide a lot. And of corse this isn't all Jacks but I have heard a lot of people say they tend to lack personality. I think salvini and grammodes fall into this category too. They look cool but are boring to keep.

A friend of mine was drunk at a fish auction and bought a little JD for me for $1.

Hadn't kept a JD in years but it turned out to be a really personable, beautiful fish.

Two or so years later, it's probably 8" and living in a buddy's 180g Central Community.
